longwood house

a site responsive, utilitarian design, driven by the need to provide comfort during cold winters, and relief during harsh summers, whilst being completely off-grid.

with a footprint of 100 square meters, the plan has been elongated with a long northern face, operable shutters are used to provide shade.

a raw, enduring and fire resistant external materials of concrete, steel, glass, and stained cement sheet, responds to the bushfire zone and a want for minimal maintenance.

internally floors are concrete, working as thermal mass, walls are timber lined and ceilings plastered, a tactile, enduring palette.
